Watercolor Painting on Wood
Before arriving in Hawaii six years ago from Poland, Pola worked as a garden designer for over 20 years.
“I've been painting my entire life. When I paint I relax, I gain distance from reality. Hawai’i has the power to help us re-discover inner talents and passions that we often lose in the rush of the modern world.”
After years of traditional oil painting on canvas, she was compelled to explore new materials to convey the vibe of Hawaii. Here are the warm colors of the sun, flowers, beach, and ocean. Pola developed her own technique of painting on wood panels, exploring and experimenting with different water-based media. In her watercolor-on-wood-art, she combines the natural grain of the wood with an artistic vision expressed through dye or watercolor techniques.
Works created this way show the optimism and natural warmth that characterize the unique spirit of aloha in Hawaii.
